Help
The questions this product is most likely to raise, answered properly. If yours is not here, write to us: a real address, read by a person, and no ticket number.
Ask us
Include your quote reference if it is about a particular one. It looks like Q-20260801-ABC-1234 and it is at the top of the document.
help@quotepack.co.ukSending a quote
How do I send a quote to my client?
Build it, then press Send. You get two links: one to give your client, and one to keep. Send the client link however you normally talk to them, by email, WhatsApp or text. We do not email your client for you, so nothing goes out in our name rather than yours.
Can I change a quote after I have sent it?
Not the one you sent, deliberately: a quote your client has already read is a record of what you offered, and quietly editing it underneath them would make that record worthless. What you can do is send a revision, which becomes the new version of the same job. The old link stops working at that moment, so send your client the new one.
My client says the link does not work.
Three usual causes. The quote has expired, in which case the page says so and you can send a revision. You have already sent a revision, which retires the previous link. Or the link was truncated in transit, which happens when it is pasted into a message that wraps it. Your own link shows the current status, so check there first.
How do I know if my client has read it?
Your own link shows when the quote was first opened, and we email you the first time it happens. Only the first view is recorded, not every visit: knowing somebody opened it is useful, and following them around their own inbox is not.
Do you chase my client for me?
Twice, on working days, between nine and five. They stop the moment your client accepts, declines or replies, and your client can stop them themselves from a link in the email. Two, and never more. You can switch them off before sending.
Getting paid
How does my client pay me?
However you choose. You can show your own payment link, show your bank details with a reference, or say you will invoice separately. Whichever you pick, the money goes straight from your client to you. QuotePack never holds it.
Can my client pay by card on the quote page?
Card payment is built and not switched on yet. When it is, it will go directly to your own Stripe account rather than through us, which means your name on your client’s statement and no waiting for us to pass money on. Bank transfer keeps working exactly as it does now, because for most UK small businesses that is the normal way a deposit arrives.
Do you take a cut of what I charge?
No. QuotePack takes nothing from the money between you and your client.
What does QuotePack cost?
Nothing at the moment. It is free while we are still building it, and it says so on every page rather than in a footnote. When that changes it will be stated plainly and in advance, and nothing you have already sent will stop working.
Your account and your data
Do I need an account?
No. You can write and send a quote without one. An account exists so that your quotes appear in one place on any device, and you sign in with a link rather than a password. There is nothing to remember and nothing to leak.
I have lost the link to a quote I sent.
We email both links to you when you send, so search your inbox for the quote reference first. If that fails, sign in with the address you used and the quote will be on your dashboard, provided it was sent from a browser you have since signed in from. We store only a hash of each link, so we genuinely cannot look one up for you, which is the same reason nobody else can either.
Who can see my quotes?
Whoever holds the link. That is the whole access rule and it is deliberate: no email verification for your client, no account for them to create, nothing standing between them and saying yes. It also means the link is the credential, so treat it like one.
Are my quotes in search results?
No, and this is checked three ways on every deploy: a response header, a page tag, and a rule in robots.txt, with a test that fails the build if any of them stops being true. A client’s quote appearing in a search result would be a reportable breach, so it is not left to one control.
How do I delete my data?
Write to us at the address below and we will do it within 30 days, which is what the law allows and considerably longer than it usually takes. Tell us the email address you used.
VAT and the figures
Why is the total not what I expected?
Every figure is computed on our server in whole pence, never in the browser, and VAT is worked out per rate band rather than line by line and then added up. The two methods disagree by a penny or two on realistic figures. If a total still looks wrong, tell us the quote reference and we will look: a wrong total is the one bug this product cannot live with.
I am not VAT registered. Why does it keep mentioning VAT?
It should not. Leave the VAT registered box unticked and the word does not appear anywhere, on the builder or on your client’s copy. If you are seeing it, that is a bug and worth telling us about.
Should I quote inclusive or exclusive of VAT?
Exclusive to a VAT-registered business, because they reclaim it. Inclusive to a consumer, because the gross figure is what they actually pay. Our guide on VAT on quotes covers the cases in between, with worked examples.
Still stuck, or something is broken
Write to help@quotepack.co.uk. Tell us what you were doing and what happened instead. If it is about a specific quote, the reference helps and your client’s details do not: please do not forward us their personal information unless we ask.
Longer answers on quoting live in the guides, and you can see exactly what your client receives without sending anything.
